
DeRoux Jones is a trained child & family therapist with 10 years of clinical experience providing therapy to both children and adults. He is a member in good standing with the College of Registered Psychotherapists of Ontario as well as the Canadian Counselling & Psychotherapy Association. He holds a Master of Counselling Psychology degree with a specialization in family therapy.
DeRoux works from a collaborative, strengths-based approach; assisting and supporting clients to edit their life scripts. He works with clients experiencing anxiety, depression, disruptive behaviours, relationship challenges, self-esteem issues, and trauma. DeRoux utilizes elements of narrative therapy, solution-focused therapy and mindfulness-based interventions to assist individuals struggling with depression, anxiety and maladaptive schemas. The main aim of his interventions is to reduce the overall frequency, intensity and duration of clients’ bouts with their presenting issues so that daily functioning is not impaired. Additionally, DeRoux seeks to assist clients to resolve the core conflict that is the source of their presenting issue(s).
DeRoux’s clinical expertise lies in Rational Emotive Behavioural Therapy (REBT), Schema Therapy (ST) and Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT) with a primary focus on anxiety, depression and maladaptive schemas. Emotionally Focused Couples Therapy is the main treatment modality used by DeRoux, in helping couples reinvent, redirect, re-engage and reimagine their relationship.
